Kate Thomas

Has worked for Gavo, the voluntary sector umbrella body for 14 years and attends the Newport Access Group as the Health, Social Care and Well-being Coordinator for Newport. She liaises with the NHS, local authority, other public bodies, charitable and community organisations, passing on information and supporting, and representing the needs of the people of Newport. She is in contact with strategic planners, commissioners and provider organisations, recipients and carers. She is a member of many groups across the city and wider Gwent area.

Kate formerly worked in voluntary sector learning disability, Autism and mental health services. A long time ago she had a contract cleaning company and was a photographer for a car sales magazine. In her spare time, she is a city councillor and the council’s Champion for Vulnerable and Disabled People and a Fairness Commissioner.
